A much more extreme example was the guy that took SD to win the SB at ridiculous odds when they were three back of Denver with three to play.

Would've been better, IMO, to parlay SD/Denver's opponent ML each week. Then in the playoffs, you continue, using SD's ML.

I agree with this completely especially in 3 and 4 game parlays but I think something to this magnitude is a little different, if the back end in fact was a -110 i'd be more than happy to hedge off 5500 to guardntee myself about a 80/1 return on my money fact is you got lucky enough to clear the first 8 and I'd rather reward myself for atleast that. But as for everyone I think it boils down to " are you comfortable making that bet str8 up" , I'm a 220/unit bettor and if I had 1 game resting on 17,880 since I'm not comfortable betting that amount I'd hedge, now if I did a 2 dollar parlay that paid out 200-400 I'd leave it b simply cause I'm comfortable to loose that amount, just 1 mans opinion, your points are very valid
