How important is your post count?

I've been reading a lot of posters take a lot of pride with their post counts for some reason. I'm actually kind of curious as to why that is?

Me personally? Not at all. I would be perfectly happy if the forum stopped displaying them.

I'd like to say that you can sometimes use post count to see how much credibility a poster has. Like if you see a guy pumping up an obscure sports book and it's his first post, you kinda know you can ignore him.

There is truth to that.

But then there are a lot of guys with tons of posts who mainly post fiction and gobbledy-gook and contribute a lot more to misleading gullible newbies and bringing down the forum IQ than the obvious shills.

On balance, I would vote in favor of the forum turning off post counts.

I can't argue that factor at all Mudcat, in fact you make a very valid point here. However, sometimes posters with the lower post counts can also be shilling for books. It's like the monthly payout report I post is not easy to decipher at times unless your a daily reader of the SBR forum.

Only important when you get to 100 posts because some contests like the Superbowl squares require at least 100 posts to play. Otherwise not important. Quality posts are better than quantity.

I think SBR should have a post loyalty program, kind of like the Cris betting point program. So 5000 posts gets you a $25 gift card to Taco Bell, McDonalds or some other fancy restaurant.

It means the world to me. JJ has molded me into an SBR poster who cares about my post count. Without posting my life would be a disaster. Posting and my girlfriend are everything to me. Ha, Unreal, can't believe I just typed that.
