there are 4 guys in the pirates rotation that have had success in the past..... the Pirates always have the worst pitching coaches, these young guys are soooo confused i'm not sure if they can get it together until they get out from this system.

but snell, duke, gorzo, and maholm are all very young, have great stuff and have had success at the major league level.... are they all likely to put it together this year? unlikely

word at mini camp is that duke and gorzo actually followed a conditioning program this off-season, one like maholm followed last year to come into spring training in shape... these guys were fat-asses last year...I know you don't have to be in great shape to be a pitcher..but I think it increases your chances, really helped ryan dempster out last year.

also I think from some of their yankee trade pieces like Karstens, or mccutchen or some of their other AAAA type players (dumatrait) could be a servicable 5th starter..

Brandon Moss will have be a decent RF....Mclouth is avg to above avg in right field

Morgan/ possibly mccutchen in center will at least provide speed and defense..

the biggest key for me is the corner infield spots.... can adam Laroche hit in april and may for once? if so he is a plus bat

can Andy Laroche actually hit major league pitching? He certainly showed alot of promise in the minors.... has his hand healed if given a real chance can he regain that prospect status?

lot of question marks...but ya just never know

mcclouth is cf, i thought. so i didnt count him as a zero bc he is a good player
we will see on duke and gorzy. i watched them last yr, its not like they got tired, they sucked every start, all year long. but i guess they were good prospects so who knows. weve heard for 5 years how snell would turn the corner and im still waiting. i do not have faith in that organization, none at all

andy laroche is garbage, his bro is better, but their best hitters are mcclouth and doumit and i dont know if that team is capable of 70 wins, i will have to take a closer looksy

I took them over 73 wins. So I am feeling good too.
