It's rare MAttingly EVER makes a smart move, matter a fact this is the first I've ever seen from him.
I'm willing to bet my nutsac someone suggested/told him to do it.
No need to throw Kershaw up against Wainright when your team is on fire and you can win throwing someone worse up there like Grenke.
Use Kershaw for the easier opponent the next day and have a better shot at winning em both.
