I drank, I drove, I will pay the price. I absolutely would love to not do any jail time but as of right now I have to expect the worst which would include that.

Bottom line you can expect a 5 years probation, 10,000 in fines licensed suspended, Sr22 filing in order to drive to work. DUI classes.


NO JAIL TIME. I didn't read everything, but I did see noone got hurt, so I assume no accident.

10,000 in fines? No. The actual fine for the offense will be about 300-400 dollars with a total fines/fees/court cost expense of about 1200 dollars if he does the 50 hours of community service. About $1700 if he buys out of CS.

When I bought a house, the ability to walk home from the bars instead of drive was a pretty big consideration. Made it this long without one, decided not to press my luck.

For those who have not been through this let me update how court trip #1 went.

Tried to plea guilty and the state offered the following.

12 months suspended license, 6 months prohbation, 6 months interlock ignition device, 1000.00 fine plus court costs (like 1500 total), 50 hours community service, car in impound for 10 days. dui class, random testing

I really cannot complain but after strong words and hints and suggestions from the judge he recommended I work with the attorney I was already assigned... so I guess the penalties won't get anymore harsh than above...

FYI, I have not drove since all of this happened... so nobody needs to be worried about me repeating and killing someone.

Keep us posted man, everyone makes mistakes, and plenty of people get away with it and keep repeating their offenses.

You are being punished and you seem to be taking it well, which should be respected. Hopefully your lawyer can get that penalty lessened a little bit and you can do the time and move on.
