It took me a while to develop (and countless rejections from females who apparently weren't into the "teddy bear" type), but over the years I've gained a pretty good feel for what people are like beneath the surface.
I can usually tell from someone's facial expressions, tone of voice, etc. what type of person they are, and can get vibes on whether they like or dislike me even if they are trying to hide that information.
This helped a lot in college when it came to making good friends, and also saved me a lot of money on girls that naive ol' Dave would have thought might be interested in him when in fact they thought the dates he was paying for "weren't dates, but just two friends hanging out".
Helps at the poker table too, which is why I do much better live then I do online.
I bring all this up because I watched the pilot to that new show "Lie to Me", where they read faces so well that they can tell exactly when a person is lying or telling the truth. Far fetched of course, especially to the degree of certainty, but some are certainly better at it than others.
So how about you? Can you read people like a book, or do you find yourself blindsided when the friend you thought you could trust back stabs you?
