OT: Computer says a network cable unplugged
When I'm on the internet ( Have a cable connection) I get a message in the lower right hand corner saying "local network cable unplugged". This happens a few times a day and when it does the internent does'nt work for a few minutes. How do I fix this?

I have no answer for you. If you live in Western NY, maybe it's Time Warner and their slipshod connection up there.

I Lived in the Finger Lakes region. yes, Roadrunner is Time Warner. Something similar happened to me as well from time to time. I had Time Warner come out and look at it, and it didn't have a problem afterwards. It had to do with a loose connection.

Was the "loose connection" something they had to fix or can I do it?

Exactly I'm not sure long time ago IT was something to do outside at the phone box .But I know for sure it was a loose connection

For $55 a month this shit should work 24/7. I need to call them before I am able to play at Full Tilt poker when my "responsible gambling" expires.

The problem is most likely on your end. Looks like a loose network cable that connects your computer with a cable modem. Try replacing it. If that does not help then describe your setup listing everything you have between your computer and the cable.

just make sure all the cables are tight, the ethernet cord going into your cable modem or computer is probly sliding out cause something keeps getting moved around, i'd replace that cord before anything else...should have one lying around, if not they are about a dollar
