For two days in a row I've told myself NO TOTALS. I promised myself I wouldn't choose a total but for the last two days in a row I've included totals in my 128 man contest thread and I lost them both.

For whatever reasons, both totals looked great and I took them without thinking. I told myself "no totals" "no totals" so many times but I couldn't stop myself and I acted without thinking.

Do you have trouble with self control when gambling? What do you do about it?

Most people learn self disipline, AFTER they go broke.

Thank God most people aren't betting enough on sports to cause them to go broke.

I mean a large percentile of gamblers go broke (lose their bankrolls) before they can acquire self control.

Most of us have trouble with control. It is the number 1 weakness here and why all posters lose.

self control and discipline may be the most important factors to keep you from going broke fast...

I recently had a nice run, and just made a big withdrawal yesterday...about 85% of my bankroll.

I then promptly lost 5 straight games till winning pitt and the lakers.

now I have a check coming to me, but i'm down to a small amount of $ in my account... I don't want to deposit again till March if that....so I may be looking at a short vaca from gambling if I don't get hot... my very small bankroll could be gone tonight.

its a win/lose.... i'm glad to have that $ coming to me garunteed that I can't lose now...but I also miss having the big # in my account...Hopefully i'll hvae the willpower to not deposit real soon

cut your unit size when you've got a small bank roll till you get it built back up...

I have control now, but there was a time when I bet the board like there was no tomorrow and sweating to find a last minute bet to call in before the local shut down for the night. Saturday's during CBK season I would have the 10 yr old helping me follow line moves on paper from Feist's site and try to beat the moves on the local phone recording. Man, I hated losing a nickel early on Saturday and chasing all day. That was sick gambling right there. I've been able to do a 180° since those days. That was a part of the learning process.
