When Is It Time To Take A Break From Gambling?
Most guys do not know when to quit when in a losing streak and I am one. I bet until I have no more money. I would think 2 or 3 bad weeks in a row is a signal to step back and regroup for a couple of weeks and stay away from it.

Never. You can't win if you don't play.

Different for everybody, but generally a good idea to take a break when things go south in a hurry. Lady Luck has a marvelous talent to f*ck with your mind, so a first priority is to make sure your mind is clear at all times. If it's not, take a break. Doesn't have to be long. Five minutes maybe?

I slow right down in June - July and have another lull around December.

I would have to say that for the answer to this, look no further than some of the opening posts to the thread: "Does anyone use sports gambling as a full-time income."

If some of that "questionable" behaviour, to be nice, applies to oneself, then it is DEFINITELY time to take a break from gambling...As in a long break...As in, go hike the mountains of Tibet kinda break.

I agree with you on MLB dan. Hoops is good to me all year and moreso after the break.

NFL, the last two years anyway has been better after week 11 than before.

Take a break, when you feel it is affecting your family life and the more important things. Sort of like re booting your PC. Gambling is always there, the other things may just pass you by.

when you can't put in the necessary time to handicap the right way, or when you are losing and pressing bets to get back in the win column

Some surprising answers, most guys here take seasonal type breaks and not breaks due to heavy loses.

It depends on why you are gambling. If it's for the pure enjoyment, you quit when your bankroll is at nil because you should have a budget and once that's "spent" you just can't justify spending more. If you are gambling professionally, you never quit. You just just treat it like any other job, taking time off now and then for vacations, etc.

jj, the thing is gambling goes in cycles. If you are having bad luck, it will probably change. You have good runs and bad runs. If you take a break when you have a bad run you might miss out on the good run.

When its time for bed, or when all the games are over for the day.

Im with CJ on the runs. As soon as you go on a break from a losing streak, you will miss out on the turn of the luck. Maybe a break after a extended winning streak is the way to go. So maybe you miss out on that losing streak. And you have some cash to spend.

if I have a bunch of bad beats in hoops within a short period of time, I'm not against taking a day off...
