Guy did fairly well last year as a starter and is a lot better than Porcello. Now the Tigers recently called up Jose Alvarez....I don't get it

I was hoping the Mets could trade Dillon Gee and Bobby Parnell for Austin Jackson and Smyly. Then put Smyly as their #5 starter.

They have given Porcello so many chances and it doesn't seem like he'll ever be better than an average pitcher. He is still only 24 though so I guess they wanna keep at it. Tigers should take a chance with Smyly or else trade him

Side note: ^^^that would be a terrible trade for Detroit

I'd move Smyly to the rotation and make Fister a closer.

Detroit has offense and can afford to lose a piece. Mets have what Detroit lacks....quality low end starting pitching and a reliable closer. Works out well for both parties.

As an Arkansas Razorback alum, I say hell yes give him a chance! He's shown to be a very effective reliever and had some nice outings in limited starts last year.

If a 5-6 record with a 4.82 ERA is a career year then I wouldn't want him on my rotation.

no fukkin way the Tigers would make that trade. They had to give up Curtis Granderson for Austin Jackson... without Austin Jackson the Tigers aint shit.

Dillon Gee is horse shit too. If i'm the Tigers i'd rather have Jonathan Niese than Dillon Gee.

Ever since that game where porcello gave up 9 runs in the first innings, which was 2 months ago, he has only given up more than 3 runs once I believe, He's actually pitched very well since

Because there is a better solution -- aside from a trade -- to their closer woes?

i agree coiner. Fister is a better option than Valverde. He doesn't have typical closer stuff but he would probably do better than their currently bullpen.

Valverde's not with the team anymore.

thats good. the guy is very talented but he needs to simplify his mechanics so he can repeat his delivery.
