Do you Bet your favorite team?
I know this has been asked before? but if you are really really a fan...

you are a) possibly biased or b) you have better info and understand better how your team goes on streaks ect. just small little things that added up over a season may make money. betting against and for your team.

I recognize my bias and often go overboard the other way and bet against my team, because I get too pessimistic... I've been burned a few times this way. Luckily you still get a win out of it and it doesn't hurt as bad.... but for the time being i've decided to just not bet my team unless I really really really see an opportunity.

being from pittsburgh, i don't bet the steelers too much, not sure what to do about sat... I bet against the steelers in the chargers game and got burned....

do you guys have any of these problems? maybe the person that posted the other day that its wise to not have any team affliations is better off in the gambling world.

I did better in baseball season with my pirates

Chi, the way I look at it is, there are thousands upon thousands of betting opportunities every year; why bet on or against your favorite team when you are already emotionally invested in the game?

Personally, my bets are all based on a model I have for hockey/baseball, and playing teasers in football. If the numbers say I should bet them then I do, if the numbers say I should bet against them I halve my bet, and bet against them. If I bet against them, I still want them to win the game.

I don't have favorite teams in most things - but I do have a few. Like any Team Canada going against the world in hockey or curling.

I do not bet those games. I don't really analyze why. I just leave them alone from a $$$ perspective and cheer from my heart. I like it that way.

I usually bet my team if attending a game. Makes each goal/run/score that much more fun. It also makes it easier to buy $8 beers when they are winning. Occasionally I bet the other team when watching on the tube, that makes a win or loss sweet in it's own regard.

I realize I am biased but I'm more in this game for entertainment than making $$.

Personally, I bet on the Beavers anytime there's a line on one of their games, and similarly I always fade the Ducks. I don't care about the potential loss, it's about putting my money where my heart is and accumulating good juju for the loyalty.

I didn't even follow sports until I went to Oregon State, those Beavers are the reason I'm a sports fan today. That's more than reason enough for me to put the money down, and I feel a lot better about it since Nicky explained to us that every bet is a coin-flip anyway.

If it's really a 50/50 deal, then why shouldn't I just follow my heart when it comes to the Oregon schools?

No problem betting on or against my favorite teams. I just want to make money and know my teams better than the other teams so if there's a bet I like, I'll take it.

No, not only do my team suck but I get pissed enough when they lose without cash on it.
Sometimes if I think they are overpriced and in a good spot I`ll risk it but 95% go and dont invest, just enjoy the game.

                      nope
mostly bc my fave teams all suck: mavs, rangers, cowboys
i will never bet AGAINST my fave team in the playoffs, even if i know they will lose

if you do that, you aint a fan any longer
