Yes, but thats not the point. Its ridiculous to suggest there could be horse racing without riders. Horses are atleast 12 times heavier than dogs. Much more dangerous.

Over all yes. Around the oval, no way. Horses are naturally very careful with there legs being as long as they are, much like Great Dane's , etc. If you move or add one thing within a mile oval with any size to it, the next day, they will spot it, and in many cases, shy from it. They are acutely aware of there understood surroundings.

For the loose horses that do run around the track correctly, it looks like they all would . Trust me, looks are deceiving. It would never happen.
