Whats the peak age of a gambler?

Interesting question.

I don't feel I've reached my peak yet and I'm a few years older than 38. But then again I was only about 38 when I started getting really serious about it and I still had so much to learn. I certainly did a lot of betting at a younger age but I was just a typical square. If I had gotten serious younger that might throw off the whole curve.

I feel like I reached a creative peak (in life in general) at ~27. I used to do a lot of book/song writing but hit a wall right around that age. Creativity is an important part of how I gamble, however I think there are enough other important areas (nerves, discipline, work habits) where I continue to improve that I can say I haven't reached my peak yet.

lol ... Im 23 next month actually. With all modesty, I have to keep reminding myself that as good as I am now, I will be dynamite in 15 years or so.

When I was 23 I rarely thought about 15 minutes from now much less 15 years from now. Right now I'm hoping the peak age for everything is 50+. Would love to stay and chat, but a new Viagra e-mail just came in and I need to read up on that stuff

I'd guess 32. Before then, most people lack the discipline and emotional maturity to win long-term and endure the losing streaks.

i'm not really convinced it's based on how old you are. i think it all relates to how long you have been gambling for.

you have to get the experience first before you can even consider a peak age IMO

Very true. Im sure a 32 year old that just breaks into the game, wont have the knowledge or success of, lets say a 25 year old that has 5+ years of experience.

Experience has to be a main factor in when a gambler is "peaking".

Every big decision in life is a gamble. Marriage, career (no sooner have the pimples of puberty dried or a guy is asked what he wants to do with the rest of his life), and so on. The bigger the consequences of a decision, the longer the row of heads in the sand.

Good thread with lot of good posts. I have to admit I have no clue. Most sports gamblers never have a clue so tough to reach a peak of anything. Once you have a clue most likely need a couple years to start to get a feel for how much they can press their edges and then deal with those edges no longer existing. I think age likely plays into it, so to does life cycles. If you have to support kids and wife gambling different situation.

Experience as others have said has to be the biggest thing.
