I meant take the handicap against him after he wins against kubot because he will be a dog. Paire has way better chance of beating him than kubot.

Doesn't have much to do with rules. He simply cedes the match.

Injury is the reason. He got hit badly against Nadal, and it felt worse waking up the morning after.

That, and possibly a massive hangover...

He was injured from the previous match and he knew he couldn't compete so instead of going through the motions of showing up on court, etc he did what's called a walkover. Basically withdraw before all the preamble so both his opponent and the next two players set to play after them can get on with it without wasting anyone's time.

this tournament has been ridiculous. has there been more upsets in the first 3 days ever ?
seems the clay court season just drained everyone and those that played 20-25 matches like that fruitcup hewitt, verdasco, and melzer seem to be thriving. <<<shaking head>>>
