With a quarterback they hope to nurture to the championship tier and a franchise- shaping decision to be made, the Broncos agreed to terms with New England Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels to be their next head coach.
No documents had been signed Sunday night, but the two sides had come to an agreement on a multiyear deal, believed to be either four or five years, for McDaniels to be named the team's 12th head coach in franchise history.
A formal announcement is expected today. Broncos owner Pat Bowlen and chief operating officer Joe Ellis could not be reached for comment Sunday night.
