    Daytona 500 34 days & 4 hours
Who are the racing fans here? I am more of an open wheel fan, but I like to keep up with the souped up taxi cabs also aka NASCAR. The Chase format bothers me and the crying that comes with it in those last races, but I cannot stop my passion for motor sports.

I am ready for another season interested in seeing how this recession impacts the racing world. Headline at NASCAR today indicated ticket prices are being reduced for the Daytona 500 already.

Yah, I've already started capping my fantasy leagues. Rather tough this year so far. Hard to figure who's going to have full time rides with year long sponsor support. Patience is the game this year. How will Stewart do with his new start up team? M Martin ought to be cheap, or is cheap. The DEI merger. Who will be driving what. Can't wait.

I put $25 on Newman to win the Championchip this year. (only reason is because he was at +4000) He is now on Stewarts team and you never know in this sport......anything can happen. I did pretty good last year so hopefully 2009 will be a profitable one. General, I too am a Nascar nut and follow it closely. I'll be happy to share any and all of my info so we can win some money.

Can't wait...racing season just around the corner. Heading to Vegas in March for the race with some buds. Time to see JR get back to the winning ways.

A bunch of drivers have been milling around town already. Ran into Mr Pemberton yesterday at Carraba's and can catch teams at the ** Donalds across from the track any mornings nowadays. Spoke to Mr Childress Monday late morning as he was at the golf course clubhouse eating lunch where he lives. I was in the neighborhood on business and stopped in for lunch as well. Most of the drivers have homes or stay at a private fly in community here in the area.

Daytona 500 is a toss this year with all of the team changes. I look for Hendrick Motorsports to do well though as the team has always had a solid showing here.

I am down on Dale Jr at 18-1 to win the chase, surprising value on the sports most popular driver.

You better believe that NASCAR would love to see Jr win. He gets a lot of calls when possible in form of cautions to his benefit. I don't mind the guy, but he isn't his dad and not close.

Tough year to pick a fantasy team. Mark Martin should be good. I
see David Regan will be driving a partial schedule this year mabey twelve
races for the last years Rookie of the year I think. With the economic crunch
you have to be careful you pick drivers that will run.

I am new to sports betting and nascar in general. Myself and some friends are gonna watch the daytona 500 in a couple of weeks and I was wondering if anyone knew where I could get some tips on who to bet on? Is now a good time to bet or should I wait till its closer to the race?

Mark is just to conservative. He will tell you himself, he likes to take care of a Car until the end, but he waits to long IMO. If he were more aggressive, he could do much better I think. I am a fan also.

Keep an eye on http://www.jayski.com/ and as well, the odds are usually pretty dead on minus the troubles that arise on the superspeedways. Dale Jr, J Johnson and J Gordon are always a threat. It takes friends and a good team to win. If a driver has no friends, their chances are very slim.

                                      GL and welcome to SBR.

I am a fan, too, but Mark Martin finds himself 31st in points after a nice run today at Bristol, an overall disappointment to say the least, but only 143 back of the chase, moving up 3 spots today.
