I don't think there is a bet like it that can transform your psyche and personality like an outright bet on golf,
Yes its a mugs bet I have been doing it on and off for the past 15 years and nearest I have came is 2nd twice so that should tell me something. Betting on multi-millionaires walking round hitting a ball with a club trying to know if they are fit or motivated isn't smart.
So back to last Thursday and I bet £200 on Kenny Perry at 25-1. A cool 5 dimes if he were to win. It was a nasty field but he won 3 x last year so can hold his own.
So he starts and I immediately get flash backs to what it was like last year. He misses a birdie putt for 4 feet and I cuss like fukk. How the hell can a pro miss a 4 footer? The old adage is you cant win a golf tourney on day 1 but you sure can lose it.
So he closes round 1 on -5, that's the same as Els but one behind Ogilvy. I check next day and he is into 8-1 to win the tourney.
Any hopes of carrying on where he left is soon dashed on day 2, while everybody is making birdies on the first hole my fat fukk decides to hit in the rough and take a penalty shot and double bogey the hole. I am that fukking mad I nearly smash my monitor and have to refrain myself from putting my fist in it. From then on my mood goes from placid to evil just like that, he shoots -3 on the day but its no good he is too far behind. I am thinking that I am glad I am not at the course or I would surely shout at him.
I swear to fukk that during the three days he must have left 30 shots short like an inch or two. Everytime Pgatour showed K Perry missing a three footer I felt myself getting more and more frustrated.
To be fair the guy who lead from Day 1 Geoff Ogilvy goes trap to wire and I don't think anyone would have caught him. (Congrats to the guy in the golf forum who tipped him). Perry finished on -15 nine shots back
Golf ouright betting is a mugs game but only way I have of hitting a 25-1, 33-1 shot, so now we move onto the Sony Open and I notice Ogilvy and Perry are in the field again. I would have thought it would be hard for Ogilvy to get up again for it. So I have £300 left to my name so going to see who I can find. It would be nice to get a run for my money.
Of course it would make more sense to place my last £300/$500 after Day one when I have more of a chance but no that would be too easy. Plus the odds are reduced.
The first tourney had 33 players, now Sony open has 150+ what fukking chance do I stand???
I guess if I were easy it wouldn't be fun (although remind me of that Thursday when my bet is done after 6 holes)
I probably come across as a jag off, its just the gambling turns me into an animal.
