I'm just curious how valuable this community is to its members. I feel a strong personal connection to many posters here and feel compelled to make a positive contribution to this place. If SBR started charging a membership fee for the forum and chat room, I would gladly purchase a automatic renewal annual membership. How many of you feel the same way?
How much is SBR worth to you...?

Even if the fact that a small monthy fee would likely raise the posting quality by orders of magnitude and make the membership more exclusive and erudite?Originally posted by StraitShooter90% of the guys dont give a shit about your problems..and the other 10 are glad you have them..Comment -

#12It is very valuable for the sportsbook and industry information. I'm not sure how much I would pay though. I have created my own network of contacts which is actually better and provides more comprehensive info than SBR forum.
But the forum is unquestionably a valuable supplement. And the forum was the original source of many of those contacts and it could reasonably be expected to provide more and keep the lifeblood flowing as time goes on.
But a dollar figure. Hmmmm . . .
I don't know. I'm not a cheapskate but I don't think I would pay anything. If SBR wasn't available, I could do my supplemental networking through free sites, I think.
(That's not getting into the probability that a lot of people would drop out as soon as there was a fee immediately making the forum less valuable.)Comment -

#26Poet, I was't suggesting this as an alternative business model by any means. I had a theory that the most enjoyable posters on here would also be the ones that attach the most value to their membership here. Just exploring ways to keep out the riff-raff as it were. Doesn't look like this theory will hold any water, but it won't stop me from pondering the issue.
Thanks for commenting though, I always like to hear what you have to say.

I feel some posters out there would pay a membership fee for the assistance factor to help retrieve their funds if and when it's applicable. A lot of players would probably look at it like like car insurance. It's something nobody really wants to buy but they know they gotta have it.Comment
