The problem is that there are no checks and balances with state athletic commissions. Way too often, you see a shot of the judges in boxing or MMA (which they try to avoid, but is unavoidable sometimes), and you see some old fat broad who looks like she works at the post office sitting there. WTF? "Oh, she has x years of experience", so what? X years of experience fukking up score cards? Probably. And to nobody's surprise, their score card looks nothing like everyone else's.Comment -

I gotta defend Dana here.
- Nobody knows if a show is going to be any good or not. Some of the best cards ended up being clunkers, and some of the weakest cards ended up being classics. Unlike boxing, the match-ups themselves are at least very good for the most part.
- Mazzagatti has had a ton of really bad matches, and was slow to jump in here. Everything Dana said about him was correct IMO, and was what I've been thinking the whole time, especially about him not paying attention, which he absolutely does not. When he does pay attention, he effs up matches. I cashed a huge ticket on Frank Mir at UFC 100 because of his retardation, but admittedly I should have lost big. I was at the event, and not a single person there knew what the hell was going on when he stood the two up. He's an unqualified yokel, and it's no surprise the Nevada Athletic Commission keeps him around. For the longest time, I thought there was some deal going on to where the refs never got criticized by Dana, because this is the first I'd heard him say anything about one. Good to see that's not the case.
- Dana is brash and arrogant, but I can appreciate his shoot from the hip mentality, and as a business owner you have to marvel at what he and the Fertittas have done. A passive approach would have never have worked. If you had money and power, would you put up with any crap that you didn't absolutely have to put up with? Me neither.Comment
