    McCarver Rants About Raising Mound
Typically I like to disagree with Timmer just out of principle, but I can see the wisdom in MLB doing something to corral the scoring that is taking place in baseball today. It seems that it has become somewhat commonplace for teams to score 12-15 runs in a game and although I love scoring, after watching the first 3 games of this NY/Boston series, it does seem to be a bit of a mockery.

McCarver proposed raising the mound as this would obviously give pitchers and advantage, but he also mentioned that it would keep the arms of pitchers healthier. If this is true and TM isn't just blowing smoke out his ass, I think it should be strongly considered.

I'd love to hear the opinions of all but especially those who might understand the mechanics of throwing off a mound and whether raising the mound might somehow prevent arm injuries.

Didn't hear what McCarver said since, as usual, I had the TV muted yesterday afternoon on this game. Only two things I can think of that might help prevent the injuries are A) giving the pitcher an advantage with a higher mound might reduce the number of pitches he throws during a game, and; B) the pitcher might not have to bear down as hard on a given pitch.

Don't know the physics involved, isetcap. But I do know you can get a little more giddyup on a pitch from a mound as opposed to throwing off flat ground. Pitches obviously come in with a more downward flight. If you have a Little League or high school field nearby you have access to, go try it out.

Slightly off topic, but why all the high scoring now if players are off the juice? Weren't we all expecting lower scorest this year with testing?

Maybe because the pitchers are also off the juice

My personal opinion is they have wound the balls tighter in an effort to say that steroids were never a problem. I'm always up for a good conspiracy theory.
