1. the financial bailout is about 3 trillion dollars.
2. there are about 320 million americans
3. that comes to about $9,375 per person
4. so people's taxes are given to the financial sector and then the same banks lend the money back to the people for interest
5. does that make sense to you guys?

No it doesn't and only because our elected officials will not work together as a primary reason, but in a recession like this, we have to hurt some (many) Americans. That is bad, but in the interest of our children so go with it. Ourselves have to have a mindset of suffering for future generations. That is the way the mop flops.

these are 2007 estimates, so i think the 2008 gdp is much less than that.

GDP : $13.84 trillion (2007 est.)
Public debt: 60.8% of GDP (2007 est.)

• 60% of $13.84 trillion comes to about $8.41 trillion.
• add 3 trillion bail out....that is about $11.41 trillion. (not counting other bailouts)
• put this in perspective. it is like your annual income is $50k and you have personal debt of over $41k.
  
• now since we're in depression, this year's GDP will be much less than $13.84 trillion.
