My strategy in hedging parlays depends on what I stand to gain compared to my bankroll. If my potential payout is greater than my bankroll then hell yes I hedge. If it's a small percentage then I don't really care as much if it hits. So the answer really is what are you comfortable risking. If you stand to gain $2k for example, how do you feel about hedging and winning half of that. If $1k is significant then hedge. If you don't give a shit about losin $1k you let it ride.
Overall, most of my parlays have high payouts so I generally always hedge, sometimes not split 50/50, I may go 60/40 or 70/30 but I always want to guarantee a return. Remember, a bird in the hand... Hedge and relax the rest of the way instead of worrying about "what ifs".

hedging makes the most sense when it's small figures...if you wagered a small amount (which is usually the case with such high odds unless you're rich..) you can hedge and not feel the difference. I doubt you would want to hedge if you stood to make 10k or over from this one wager. you would be wasting money imo...
