I would imagine a good amount of people with locals just bet because they love sports. Lost around 10k in a 2 month period...once I finally got back above even 9 months later my local booted me.

Agreed, the professionals also bet offshore to look for the best line, take advantage of numerous betting options, etc. Most guys that bet locally just want a simple payday once a week, and don't care as much when it comes to shopping for the best odds.
