There were several threads in here bashing the SEC this year. 4 out of the last 6 national champions. Pounded Big 12 teams in the bowls. Defense and smash mouth football wins championships as proved vs those Big 12 gimick offenses and soft defenses (See Tex Tech and Ok).
Better players and better coaches, period.

Big 12 looked pretty, because they were beating up on each others average defenses. Thats why they had high scoring offenses.

Honestly, no question the SEC has a ton of talent and is a great conference, but you can't deny that it was a seriously down year this year during the regular season.

Bowl results are but one factor in figuring what team is going to win. Pac 10 went 5-0 postseason, but still is hardly the best league in the land.

Matchups, strategy, "want to" factor, coaching records and technique, key injuries - these all have at least equal importance in final outcomes

I'm not arguing the Pac-10 is strong; they aren't.

I'm just saying that teams like Auburn and Tennessee that perennially give teams fits were absolute doormats this year. The SEC was not itself at all. Thats why people were saying they "sucked"... not like anyone else was looking much better this year.

Just because the SEC seems like they don't have good teams they are very good on defense. And there offenses are underrated because there defenses are so good. Even Ole Miss beat up Texas Tech who was #1 at one point.
