#37Hey Guys,
Thanks for all the feedback. Many of you have brought up good points (ex. poker is boring (which is true a lot of the times), staying in town and keep playing poker at a local, staking each other which is very common in the poker world, I know phil ivey has a team where they all stake each other.)
As of now, lets let this thread die, no more fighting amongst each other, and if I ever join a tournament or decide to do this for a month, I will let SBR and this thread know.
Again thanks ya'll for the input.Comment -

#38It is a dream that many of us have, and the majority get crushed. To play 2 5 for a year it is fine wit 25 000 if you manage your br properly, however many had giving you a better solution, play online .5 1 and see if you can triple up the original b r in 6 months just paying cash games in a 9 person tables and then , just then consider the live games in vegas.Comment -

#40Go fuk yourself opieshit! You're just a pissed off angry right wing asshole who suck's sarah palin's dick. Stay in fuk'in Texas where you and dipshits like bush and perry belong. You're too fuk'in stupid to understand or even play poker or realize that deals like this are made all the time.
I vent on here like everybody else mainly because it is a rigged piece of shit software that is nothing like or even compares to playing live. Of course you wouldn't know about that holed up in that dry fuk'in dust bowl where you live and worship fuk'in idiots. You're about as stupid and goofy as they come, do us all a favor a go put a republican dick up your ass, after all, it's what you're best at.
Poor opieshit, you're must really miss you're booty boy cronies Lou and John huh? All fuk'ed over and gone! See what happens when asshole right wingers are in charge? You get the BI scandal, players get fuk'ed outta their cash, and fuk heads like you try to sweep it under the rug and run off with all the goods. This is exaxtly why you fuk heads will never make it in a changing world and will never lead our country anywhere except down the fuk'in shit hole. But thankfully we have good leadership, smart women, gays and minorities, to make sure your fukers are kept from ever getting control again. Just wait until your daughter tells you to go fuk yourself and shoves a big middle finger right in your stupid hillbilly face! You fuk'in loser!Comment -

#42Vegas cash games are dismal. You cannot make a living here playing.
I work now, I slave at a shit job because of the lack of action and dead money.
And if you think you can play during the day and make money you're nuts.
You will have to live a grave-yard lifestyle to have any chance. The action during the day is 10 times worse.
Take it from someone who has already lived many years without a job and played successfully, you are too late to ride this train.
Best bet would be take your roll and go live in costa rica and play online while banging whores and living like a king dirt cheap.
There is still decent money to be made online if you have access to it. But it will NEVER be like it used to be either.
Poker is a game on the decline. The players are way more educated now. People don't just sit down and jerk off to being all-in. They are tighter and more aware of bet-sizing, pot-odds, implied etc.Comment -

All these assholes wanna do is start wars and kill innocent people, push the middle class down the fuk'in road to extreme poverty, all the while lining their greedy ass pockets with the blood of real Americans. They're a fuk'in cancer that needs to be destroyed and hopefully within a couple of generations all their old fuk'in asses will be dead and gone.
They care nothing to help the poor, or give a damn thing back. All they care about is money and their fuk'in phony ass religion, which is as stupid as they are. I live in the real world not some make believe fantasy land of right wing zealots. And opie the fuk head doesn't have a clue as to what I do, how much I donate time and money to benefit the needy and my community.
He calls it being a liberal who gets hand outs, I personally have worked all my fuk'in life and have never taken or needed a so called "hand out", but I don't have a problem with anybody who does need help because they've lost their job or home, needs medical care, or food to feed their children. Of course to a dumb fuk like opie, these are liberal hand outs that his dumb ass thinks he pays for. He does not. Most of time it is all done through donations and the kindness of people. And that's the difference between opie and I, someone who understands human compassion and a complete asshole who thinks stupid bitches from Alaska actually have some degree of intelligence.Comment -

#47To play 2/5 and make a living I would only play in Vegas the couple months around the WSOP where the action is so juicy. You could also play online regulated while in Nevada on the new Ultimate Poker. Then I would go to other places such as Florida, Vancouver, wherever the WSOP circuit is, wherever the WPT is, or wherever the other huge tourneys are. That would get you the best action and chance to win over players that are worse than you. This is just my opinion. Good luck in whatever you do, I'd read your blog.Guess who's stackin' gold and silver? THIS GUYComment -

#55Making a living playing poker much tougher now. Id say game in decline and overall the player pool is substantially more educated on game than 10 years ago.
If you have the ability to raise 250K capital fairly easy then there are other options that can pay you substantially more money than playing poker and not leave you living a shit lifestyle where you sleep all day to stay up in casinos all night.

#58You should follow my plan and go to Vegas for the WSOP. I've been playing online and live for about 9 years. Cash games are a grind unless you're playing high-nosebleed stakes. I really started developing my tournament skills about 5 years ago online and starting cashing regularly with multiple deep runs/final tables. Last year I took my game to the WSOP for the first time and played in event #38 $1,500 buy-in. I ended getting 26th place for a little over 17k. That's the beauty of tournaments and making a large profit for a set amount of potential loss. This year I'm going for a full month. I leave on June 17th and will be bringing around 30k. I planning on playing in a couple $1000, $1500, and $2500 events ending with the main event. Obviously, I know I have the potential to not cash at all but if you don't make any stupid moves within the first couple days and play solid its way better than grinding the cash game.Comment -

#61You obviously dont live in silicon Valley and understand the housing situations here.
You have a 2-3 bedroom homes in Cupertino that go for over a million dollars. OH and people from overseas just happen to know all about silicon valley (especially Cupertino because of its school district) and decide they want to buy their houses in Cash.
Remember my savings is 50k. 20% downpayment in order to avoid PMI, I need around 100k downpayment on a 500k house. But wait a minute, im in my mid 30's and SINGLE. So Instead, its a lot cheaper to rent out a room in a house paying only 700 in rent. Make more money off the stock market and have ample savings just in case I get laid off or fired. Any tech companies have high risk that comes along with their high reward.
Its funny because this isnt to tell you that Im lying or telling the truth but to educate you that living in silicon valley, 50k in savings isnt much at all.Comment -

#65There are a lot better places for poker than Vegas so if you really want to go there I'd take advantage of the housing market out there. You can get some good houses for really cheap, like 100k or so. I'd buy a house around that price and rent it out for the income. That way you have a tangible asset plus a steady stream of income from tenants.Comment -

#66There are a thousand different factors that would make this number fluctuate, but usually good players can expect to win around $25 an hour playing 2/5. If you know when to play and where (table selection) it can be higher. The games are just drier and tougher than they were a few years ago. Usually the good players in 2/5 can beat higher stakes tho. Is $25 an hour worth totally altering your life for? I guess it depends on where you are in life.Comment -
