Line shopping in Vegas can sometimes be cumbersome. Trying to manuever between casinos often takes a bit of time, especially on the strip. Parking garages are often located on the opposite side of the casino as the sportsbook. Valets take far too long to turn your ticket in, tip the valet, and get your car. And there are often long taxi and limo lines and they add up to a small fortune after a while if you were to use them daily. Anyway, today I was trying to get a bet in on Citadel. I was looking to get +2.5. I left my place at 1pm and the game started at 3pm. There was an accident on the 15 at Trop and traffic was backed up for miles. After 20 minutes of stop and go, I finally got off the freeway and stopped off at a Leroy's to find their line had dropped to +2. The Hilton was my closest option that had Citadel at +2.5 when I left my place. There are two huge conventions in town that started this week. AVN and CES. And the Hilton just happens to be neighbors with the Convention Center. As I pulled up to the sportsbook parking lot (one of the few casinos that has convenient sportsbook parking), a security officer directs me to the north lot since they are using the sportsbook lot for convention overflow parking (at $30 a crack). The north lot is a country mile from the sportsbook. I finally park my car and walk all the way to the book to find that the line on Citadel had dropped to +1.5. Fvck. It's now 2:40. I call one of my friends and ask him to check on the Citadel lines. Station casinos still has them at +2.5! I'm in luck. I have 20 minutes to go about 2 miles. As Murphy's law would have it, I hit every red light possible (some of them multiple times due to the traffic). I tear into the Palace Station lot at 2:59 and come to a screeching halt in handicap parking. I run up to the window:
"What's the line on 756?"
"+2.5"
"Okay, give..."
"It just went off the board."
"Fvck!"
What a pain in the ass.
