Keep in mind though, the two games the Hawks won in this series, they almost doubled the Wings SOG...so far they're down on shots.

The Blackhawks are +250 which means it's a breakeven bet if they are gonna win 28.57% of the time. If you think they win a higher percentage of the time you bet it. If you don't, you don't. Whether or not you have money on Detroit is completely irrelevant.

Again, this is completely irrelevant whether or not you're guaranteeing yourself profit. That's why I said "unless you have your life savings on the game" or more simply an amount of money that is relevant to your life EV.

really? My explanation is what newguy said, to a tee. If you played the Wings at +110 or higher, you can sacrifice 1/4th of your risked amount to guarantee your profit on the night.

I'm not considering the total you have on the game, just saying you can play both ML's at +$$$, you guarantee you don't lose. That's all. Can't really say that's not true, but if you'd like to go ahead.

Me personally, I took Wings ML at +110 before the game, then sprinkled on CHI ML here at +255.

It also depends on what sport, and what kind of game you're doing it on. This is the President's trophy winning team, down 2-1 going into the 3rd, with only 20min left to save their playoff career...why would you not cover yourself here and guarantee profit?

I also look at value. Wings were by far better team in games 3 and 4. So to get them +ev pre game seemed like good value. Then to see Blackhawks only down a goal getting +250 knowing their big guns will double shift to save season. Again. Good value even looking at it stand alone and with wings bet.

Yep, but it's all a 'feel' type of play. If you believe you're lucky to be winning with your play, then hedge. Otherwise, leave it be.
