If he pitched routinely in the al he'd probably get thrown to the wolves every other start. People on thisboard said the same shit last season about dempster.

You put A.J Burnett, Samardzjia and Matt Harvey on an average offensive team and that team is winning 100 games.

                          He's not a #1?

                          You're joking, right?

Name me 5 pitchers in the NL who are pitching better than Samardzija right now.

Obviously Kershaw is in a league of his own, and I think Matt Harvey and Cliff Lee are also ahead of him.

In fact, only Kershaw and Harvey have lower batting average against numbers.

                          But after that?

You would be hard pressed to find any difference between Strasburg's numbers and Samardzija's

He only gave up 3 runs in his last 24 innings.

Samardzija has a 2.85 ERA, with a WHIP of 1.05. Hitters are batting .192 off of him.

Yessir!! I think the Angels are a perfect example of this point. This is a pitching era we're in. I'd trade the Angels lineup for those 3 and plug in a lineup that can play small ball and contend for the whole fuggin thing..

Samardjzia easily made the best career choice in the last decade, the best career of the prior decade was Charlie Ward. If you have a choice of any other pro sport vs the NFL go with the other sport. NFL just uses up players, and spits them out. Horrible contracts, and no job security. With an added bonus of a higher risk of a career ending injury. Its so bad in the NFL that they are fighting veterans of a different era who were not privy to health insurance on who should be paying thier doctors bills.

Congrats on you career choice Samarjdzia.
