Dana White, UFC, interested in signing Gina Carano

According to a recent report featured on FiveOuncesOfPain, UFC President Dana White stated that he has an interest in picking up certain fighters from the ashes of EliteXC.

“These guys are wasting their time by going to these fly-by-night companies,” White said. “That’s the worst thing an athlete can do - waste time. Fighters are crazy to waste their time.”

White has made similar statements in the past, but when asked to rattle off EliteXC fighters the UFC has an interest in White threw a curveball.

“We are interested in a few people like Robbie Lawler, Jake Shields, and Gina Carano,” White said.

Dana White has recently softened his stance on woman's MMA after being a staunch opponent, having gone as far as stating he'd be open to promoting a Carano-Cyborg matchup under the WEC banner. Woman's MMA would take a huge step forward with acceptance and open promotion from the Zuffa organization.


I don't care if he puts her in the UFC, WEC or whatever...Just sign this woman so I can look at her please!! Thanks!

While an all female cast on TUF is interesting in concept, just know that not ALL women look like Gina.

They talked about this on The Savage Dog show today. The TUF show has become stale and it seems that UFC and Spike are maybe considering this. I still don't know what to think about female MMA, seems like every fight I've seen one woman just outclasses her opponent by so much, it's not even a fair fight. Don't get me wrong, I think Gina is beautiful, skilled and a very cool chick but I don't like the shorter rounds in female fighting and not many women have KO power.

ya the KO power is what the big problem is. Unless you can find a bunch of hot mma female fighters (which im sure there is enough, but all different skill levels) no one is going to want to watch many of them.

I'd have to agree with your statement regarding their lack of KO power. It's a shame to see those beauties take so many punches to the face and not even get rocked.
