Easy Cover for Ohio State, as Texas HC Mack Brown Foretold
The color man on the Fox broadcast reported that Mack Brown said that the team that wants a bowl game like that more usually wins.

Which Texas did, but didn't cover the spot.

Because Ohio State, eliminated early from Nat'l Champ consideration, wanted this game a lot. More than Texas did, after they lost the chance for the Championship Game.

It was desire that overcame what is likely an edge in talent for Texas that kept it close (and only a coverage error in the last seconds gave the game to Horns).

What Barry Switzer calls the "emotional disappointment" factor is of significance importance in 'capping the bowl games.

A factor that will disappear if the Bowl Championship Series greedies are ever overthrown.

Hook, this would be my only opposition to a playoff as I have made alot of money on these bowls over the years because of that one very thing.

What I meant is that Texas was crushed emotionally when they were aced out of the title game.

The Fiesta was a bad bone. Tho once they got in and int he second half the competitive juices kicked in. Tho OSU still got the cover, and almost the win.

I understand what you're saying, it's why I pocketed some bucks in betting the Utes the other night.

Most bettors will not take that factor into consideration, which is good for us who try to look into all factors.

Still, I would much rather see a tournament type playoff, like the NCAA deal in March. I usually do well there too, betting the games.

(Wetzel of Yahoo Sports had a terrific article on why the BCS bandits have control of the postseaason and will not let go until they're shot in the head.)

Tressel played the game not to get blown out, and he almost still did. Down 17-9, the Texas drive to the OSU 38 was the key series, when McCoy fumbled out of bounds and lost yards and they eventually had to punt.

Plus, the punter was awful for Texas. Tressel has 3rd and 12 from his own 48 down 10-6 and he runs a draw? That tells you he was trying to save the blowout.
