The whole "Tony Tony Tony" bit needs to go. That music just got on my nerves, and I didnt really pay attention to what the hell it really was about.
ESPN new to the whole football thing? Fcuking seems like it. I think they are trying to hard.

They have played that Tony song on the radio for 10+ years, I heard him in the D.C. area before he became national on his show.

I was very surprised to see he was chosen to be on MNF...

He whines about everything... Dennis Miller was better than this guy. But it's his first game and it's an exhibition game so it doesn't count anyway, so I'll cut him some slack.

Being from DC, I like Kornheiser well enough but I don't feel this venue matches his strengths well at all. He's always at his best when his words are seen, not heard. His personality does go over well on PTI but that's because he's paired with his long-time colleague and friend Mike Wilbon.
The biggest problem with the MNF team is Joe Theismann.
Mike Tirico is simply the best pbp guy out there.

100% agree. All you hear out of him is how everyone else is wrong and he is right.
I never was a big fan of Tony either. His morning radio show on Sportstalk980 in DC was only about 25% actual sports talk. His columns in the post are much better then his radio show ever was.

Right on. Never even had the sound up last night to hear Kornheiser because I refuse to listen to anything Theisman is part of.

I agree with the Joe Theismann comments guys. although Kornheiser just made the MNF broadcast even worse, not to mention the new scoreboard ESPN is using this year.

Theisman is good, he is handsome and knows the game. He also bets which makes it appealing for the average fan.
Korny did ok for the 1st game.

Feel similar to isetcap. I like Tony, but this might end up being painful.

I guess if your so focused on the game callers your not really a true fan. Most people can care less who calls games. I watch the games and any broadcast does deliver enough to enjoy the game. No one wil ever agree on personalities, ect. If you read these boards no one is any good. The execs hire these guys based on viewer ratings and of course professional evaluations so guys like Theisman must be good or they would not make big money every year.

wishful thinking that they'd pull Tony anytime this year, but can they at least get rid of that ugly scoreboard. its just sitting rite there in the middle bottom, shrink it and put it in the corner or something

From the bits and pieces I saw I didn't think he was all that bad.

I guess the same could be said about the people who are focused on the people who are focused on the broadcasters
The networks don't always hire people because they're excellent at their craft. They hire side kicks like Theisman and Kornheiser because the general public recognizes their names and, by golly, if someone has heard the name before they must be good. Ask 100 people on the street to tell you the first thing that pops in their mind about Theisman, and I'm willing to bet 90 of them respond with something about Lawrence Taylor breaking Theisman's leg. Kornheiser just gives ESPN more free advertising on his Pardon the Ignorance show.
