    Joe Montana rookie card
one of the other treads reminded me about a Joe Montana card I have. Not sure if its a rookie card or not but I believe the date on it is 1978. Wasnt '77 his rookie year
Did they have "rookie" written on the rookie cards back then.
Any idea of a ball park price of what this migth be worth?
any websites where I can find out?

I'd say maybe $300, and that is generous.

Pending the condition of the card I'd say roughly $100 sir.

Montana began his pro career in 1979. Why did his rookie card come out in 1981?

near mint, been kept in a plastic sleave .
$100 really, am I the only one that thinks it should be worth more
joe montana for christ sake, 26 yr old card.
I guess the market was flooded with them. I know the companies did the same with Shaqs rookie card. I think I have about 8 of his rookie cards.

thats why I questioned if it was a rookie card, cause on the back it has stats from the '79 season

Did they make cards for every single player no matter how much they played in the NFL like baseball, not sure they did in the late 70s. He played very very little in 1979, and a little more in 1980 then they made his card in 1981.

You might be able to get 75 or so for it on ebay.

Cards aint shit these days and people always think they are worth more.

the sport card market has changed dramatically in the past ten years, the older cards like your joe montana could be worth a lot more if it is graded,, you can send your cards off to be graded , they are given a score, just for example a gem mint rookie of montana could sell for around 4000 or more, All these older cards are basically real cheap unless they are graded,

anyway if its in real good shape send it off and have it graded, if not throw it on ebay

                                good luck everyone
