How does this scholarship thing work. I always hear so and so gives 5k to general scholarship fund. Am I right in thinking that the athletes dont have to pay but the rest of people do?
How much does it cost for 4? years at University?

I assume its more to go to Duke or Vandy than SMU or New Mexico

most athletes get full paid scholarships, which means they pay nothing.
the average joe has to pay to go to college but can get grants and academic scholarships to help pay. the amount varies.

Most also get housing a meal plan plus plenty of "book" money. Also, usually most are poor enough to get a federal pell grant along with it which can be a few grand each semester which goes straight in their pockets.
