Vote for the posters of the year Group A
You can vote for as many posters as you want.

The SBRFORUM final 21 will be the 21 posters with the highest vote totals from this poll and the five polls below.

    Group B

    Group C

    Group D

    Group E

    Group F

All of these polls will be closed in 5 days. After that, we’ll have one last poll that will feature the SBRFORUM final 21. The winner of that poll will be crowned “poster of the year.”

Many worthy posters were left out of the polls. If you want to nominate yourself or someone else, post them in the thread below and I'll make a new groups and polls as needed:

Tie breaker: We'll have special one-day polls to settle any ties.

Thanks for this awesome format, fearless. I'm not sure what your impetus is, but this is a really spectacular contribution to the forum. Happy New Year and may blessings rain down upon you over these next twelve months.

Fearless, can you make this an open poll, so it would be visible who voted for whom? Admittedly, I am trying to turn this into something of any use to me.

Sorry, I didn't choose that option and I can't change it. I felt that people should feel free to vote for whoever they wanted, even that meant voting for themselves or others who they pretend to hate but actually like.

Certain posters may want to keep their opinions secret for a variety of reasons.

OK, it is your poll after all. However, I do disagree. Creating anonymous polls on an anonymous Internet forum just defeats the purpose of this, or any, forum which is to spark conversations. I would say that anyone who feels that this poll should be anonymous should not be taking forumville that seriously as they do.

We can change it for the SBRFORUM final 21. I just thought that people would be honest if the poll is anonymous. Don't you?

You think that allowing us to see who's voting for who will spark more conversation.

Do you think that that advantage will come at the price of people ceasing to vote totally honestly?

When everyone knows everyone's votes, politics comes into the picture, people may get afraid. For example, maybe you don't think your best friend deserves a vote but you feel like you have to vote for them or risk hurting their feelings. Conversely, maybe you don't want someone to know you like them so you won't vote for them because you don't want to show your true feelings publicly.

I think that anonymity allows for more honesty. What do you think about that?

Do you think people can be 100% honest when everyone can see everyone else's votes? I don't.

If people aren't being totally honest then there's no point in having the poll because it won't be accurate. Can you deny that?

How do you respond to my point of view?

Please explain your thoughts because I'm all ears.

Fearless, my point is that this forum is already anonymous. If one thinks that the polls needs to be anonymous then, in my view, they make this forum more "real-life" than it actually is. Anonymous polls are a great concept. As you said, they allow people to vote honestly if there is a chance they might be afraid of something to cast their votes openly. If there is a poster who is afraid to say something on an anonymous Internet forum then they do need to seek professional help. I do think that the polls, as any other products, should cater to normal people (or androids), of course, assuming there are some of those around.

I don't know how much you pay attention to the drama that goes on here but I'd say at least half the people in this contest know each other in real life, their real names, etc.

On many message boards the thing you said about anonymity is true but not here. This is a close knit community and many people know each other very well. It's closer to being like real life than a typical message board, imho. For that reason I'm still against using the feature where everyone can see what everyone else voted for in this round.

I think I will use that feature for the SBRFORUM final 21 because you'll only be able to vote for one "poster of the year" and not multiple choices. Politics shouldn't be much of a factor in that.

You'll get what you want in the next round.

I do follow it to the extent of noticing how much of it I have to skip through. One of the things what makes me like this forum better recently is that SBR exported great deal of useless (to me) drama creators to EOG, which is the forum I do not post at.

I think you are exaggerating. Many posters met in real life, they do not know each other.

I take that as a supreme compliment, my friend. What is life without conflict and dissension, the Socratic Method applied in our little corner of cyber-socialization? It's mundane and predictable, and whatever else I add to this forum, I insist that it not be those things.

I may stir things up, but I'd like to think that I do so in a unique and thought-provoking manner. May this New Year be one of introspection and self-evaluation for SBR, that is my wish, and the goal which provides the animus to my participation.

At 7:18 PM I posted that thing about Ganchrow beating you. At that time, you had 20 votes and Ganchrow had 21 votes. No one else was close to you guys. Now just a few hours later, look at it.

That's it, I'll take the final 63 for the next round and we'll allow everyone to see everyone's votes so we can monitor for cheating.

I've invested too much time to give up now. I thought if there was cheating it would be on a small scale. What's the point of this kind of cheating?

Alright for the final 63 there will be a 200 post minimum for voters.

I'm gonna have to freaking "grade" everything to make sure it's on the up and up for rounds 2 and 3.

For example, if you get 20 votes but 18 of the votes you got came from voters with under 200 posts, then you only got 2. Cheaters are ruining this great contest for everyone.
