Game 3: L.A. Clippers VS Memphis - Why The Significant Opening Line Increase?
Most home court to away games are only a 6 point swing... no matter who they are.

Well L.A. Clippers at home were -5.5 -6 roughly. So the opening line in Memphis should only be Memphis PK or Memphis -0.5

So... someone tell me what's going on? I think L.A. Clippers +4.5 is a gift.

I suspect it's some kind of set-up, why wouldn't it be, but it seems like a gift to me too. Do the Grizz really have that much of an advantage at home? I took it for a unit last night.

Zig zag theory, must win for Memphis. 100% standard and expected for an NBA playoff line.

No they aren't. Not in the playoffs and especially not when the team is down 2-0.

Knicks were -6.5 to -7.5 at home - opened Boston-3
Last year OKC was -6.5 to -7.5 at home - opened Dallas-3
Nets were -4.5 to -5.5 at home - opened Bulls-4
Last year's Western Conf Finals and the Finals also prime examples.

The 6-point swing thing is in the regular season, when games all basically mean the same thing. A desperate team down 2-0 is gonna lay more pts because of the situation.

If Memphis wins game 3 they will be about -3 in game 4 most likely.

Seto - It's a mirage. It's a 6 point swing regardless of emotions... momentum etc. That's the way I see it. The stats are in the bag... both the Clippers and Memphis are identical. No need to have a 10 or 11 point swing on any line. The line would suggest taking Memphis -4.5 but they got lucky to cover game 2. I think Clippers can handle them.

Vegas must be welcoming the new gamblers this year... to post a line like this. Someone is always turning 18 and 21 somewhere. The inexperienced gambler.

It's not a mirage at all.

If you aren't aware of the zig zag theory in NBA playoffs, look it up. If Memphis opened at a pick, it would have been bet up so quick every sportsbook website would have crashed.

No offense but the fact that this surprises you makes you look like an inexperienced gambler. It happens every year.

If you think that books are giving out free money with the 10 point swing, feel free to bet the Clippers. Or better yet, tally up the record over the past few years of teams having such "weird lines" and decide whether this is a good idea.

In any case, I'll be thrilled if the Clippers win. I already feel my Clippers series bet is basically in the bag but it would be 100% if they win tonight.

Griz took the Clips deep into both 4th Q's CP3 hits an off balance jumper to win game 2.
The Griz are a rough team that grinds on you ...I think this is their game. I dont see the line
                as being off.

You can see it the way you want to see it. I'm referring to game 2. You can see it as "grizz were lucky to cover it" you can also see it as "clippers were lucky to have won". What matters now is home court. Protect your home court. With a short line, take the home team playing from a loss. Zig zag or no zig zag, grizzlies take this.

this is the playoffs. Warriors were +8.5 last game and are -1 right now. in the games where the spreads are smaller, there will be bigger differences in the spreads based on home court, especially when a team is down 2-0. you have been way off this post season.

btw it only happen 3-4 times per year, but in the postseason when the team down 2-0 is favored you bet them every single time. hard.

Thats what you get for saying "inexperienced gamblers", when its obvious by your statements that you were actually the one thats inexperienced with playoff betting.
