Can't speak for past teams, but with this one, it's because you're holding out hope that their immense talent overrides the fact that they do very few of the little things it takes to win games right. They're basically the Detroit Tigers of the west coast. Bad defense, horrific bullpen, all-or-nothing situational hitters, questionable managerial decisions, etc. Just a lot of stars who every once in a while will come up with just enough extra base hits to out-last the opponent.
