    Why do people post picks?
Don't buy the I'm doing it so I have a written record for my picks.

These idiots that go with locks and other things like =*=* around the threads are doing it for one thing, attention. It's sad, but the truth.

          Different reasons.

Some do it for attention, others genuinely want to help. The worst ones do it so they could turn tout....kinda like building a resume and a following. Theres quite a few of those in Players Talk.

Ask not why people post plays, ask why some never do.

they love the .....if you bet a game and read/post on this forum why not tell others you are on the game, gives you some friends for the 3 hours its on. Just like betting big at a blackjack table, you'll high-five the guys at your table when the dealer busts sometimes.

However I think most do it for the attention and to make themselves look good, a large portion dont even have money on the game yet claim its life or death.

I love the guys that never post a pick but always claim to be on the right side. They know all the sharp plays and they even hire accountants to manage their humongous profit but only post sporadically.

Lighten up big tropolis. It's entertaining when people post picks, get a thread going with detractors and cheerleaders all in one play, have a few beers, watch the game...

                      Whats wrong with that?

The people who post picks on the main page don't "tout" their stuff either.

Go buy yourself a six pack or something.

I don't gamble anymore, but I still like to handicap for the fun of it. I have a good time reading about the games, and just posting my gut reactions (especially when they're right). This board is a handicapping board, and most of the guys on here can tell who knows what they are doing and who doesn't.

When people always ask why dont I do write ups i always tell them to go read ESPN, Sportsline or Yahoo cause they do excellent writeups and stats. Most cappers just copy those anyways.

And any capper worth a damn can make compelling arguments for both sides.

To me what makes a great capper is their picks not write ups. I mean look at Ron Meyers for example. Former head coach of the Colts and the Patriots turned tout. The dude has probably forgotten more about football than everyone here combined will ever know. And when he says he has inside info he really means it unlike 99.99999% of the scumbag touts. Yet the guy is horrible at picking winners. I used to monitor his picks and he was pretty darn awful. But he sure had great write ups though!

If i had to blindly tail someone I'll choose the guy that consistently wins at 60% than someone who does excellent writeups but hits just 51%.
