Randy Johnson Signs With The Giants
That actually was a pretty good signing for the Giants IMO.

Randy Johnson, Giants agree to 1-year deal

SAN FRANCISCO (AP)—The Big Unit is heading home to the Bay Area.

Randy Johnson and the San Francisco Giants agreed to a one-year contract Friday, meaning the 45-year-old pitcher will go for his 300th win with a new team.

Johnson, a 21-year big league veteran who spent the past two seasons with the Arizona Diamondbacks, was born in Walnut Creek, Calif., about 30 minutes from the Giants’ waterfront ballpark.

The five-time Cy Young Award winner has 295 victories after going 11-10 with a 3.91 ERA in 30 starts last season.

I'm a life long Giants fan and am not excited whatsoever about this signing. The Unit was once a force in this league but he's older than dirt now and doesn't have much left in the tank. It'll be a season filled with mediocre pitching in between DL stints.

                    I'm glad.

With so much emphasis on relief pitching these days, the era of the 300 game winner is gone. The Unit is one of the all time greats and deserves to be on that elusive list of 300 game winners. Would have hated to see him hang up the glove only 5 short.

He picked the worst possible team to shoot for 300. Might take him 3 years to win 15 more with Giants.

Johnson only needs 5 wins to reach 300 Mr.Pavy.

I'm thinking once the season is irrelevant (shouldn't take long for the Giants to be an afterthought in the playoff race), start bringing Randy in every time you have a tie game 2 out at home in the top of the 9th, or extras. He gets one out, and if they get a run in the bottom of the inning, he's the winning pitcher.

                                Win-hawk your way to 300

Should have used this money and put it into drafting and developing. Although that is a weak division, and it wouldn't take much to win it. I don't think it is a poor signing, but the team still has no plan for the future.

Giants line up should actually be a bit better. Pablo Sandoval is a pretty good prospect and his high contact style should take advantage of the HUGE field he hits into. Will play everyday, from what I am hearing.

johnson is way past his prime. he's only playing for win 500 and will get touched up for 4-5 runs a game at a pretty routine basis this year. i'd bet against him hard for some good value, as you know he'll continue to run lines to favorites for the giants....providing they score more than one run a game this year.

and bet lincecum HARD this season -- this kids going to win 20 along with hamels.

Johnson had a very good second half last year after getting fully healthy.....

he should be able to win 5 by the all star break...

he might intimidate some Giants hitters to get some run support for him too..... I'd not wanna strike out and have to face him in the dug-out afterwards in a 1-0 losing effort in the 6th inning..

the giants have alot of really interesting young hitters.....

Great signing for the Giants and for sharp baseball bettors.

The public is going to love betting Johnson and once he gets even closer to 300 more money will be put on him. I can see -200 or more on each game he pitches even against teams quite a bit better than the Giants.
Even if he grabs his 5 wins it will take enough games for him to be profitable to us.

                                                    On a side note.

I wish you luck Randy your a great pitcher and deserve 300 wins.
