if you guys seriously think those two movies were the best of 08, you need to hold yourself to higher standards.

Not a big Batman fan at all, but "The Dark Knight" is outstanding.

I'm usually only concerned about a few things with movies:
1. Social commentary
2. Educational value
3. Entertainment value
Both of those movies are loaded in at least 2 of the 3 so they stood out for me. Also, I'm drawing a blank and I saw both of those recently so they're still in my head.

Dark Knight was the best film of the decade, and I am not a big fan of "Blockbuster" movies.
I would list more but for the sake of Xmas, I will leave the boring indie film list for another day.

Dark Knight was good...but over hyped with the whole Heath Ledger death thing. It really did drag a bit at the end as well....

*shrugs* What can I say, '08 was weak. I never got to see Choke, which I was looking forward to, and hesitate to give the best movie to a comedy out of principle. So I went with the flick that showed Jolie's ass. What's your winner, chief?

Didn't see a movie at all this year that was released this year which is no doubt a telling sign of just how much I thought of the movies released in 2008.

Dark Knight was disturbing, long, boring from time to time and far from what I expected… it’s a pity that all those money were made form the death of poor Heat Ledger…
Tropic Thunder was just boring and same Hollywood bullsh*t like I’ve seen many times before… I’ll put Ironman in the same basket with it… Whatever happened with Robert Downey Jr…? He was a cool guy…
I’ll go for a real classic… Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull... I expected no less than the best and this movie completely satisfied my criteria… ,

I saw Gran Torino the other day -- I haven't watched many flicks this year -- but Gran Torino was FANTASTIC. I'm not sure if it's the best of the year, but this flick is GOOD. Clint Eastwood still rocks at 78 years old. A solid A/A- flick.
