When I was reading poster's analyses of the Notre Dame/Hawaii line movement, I saw an explanation I've never seen before: "Notre Dame has rich fans and they're moving the line." That brings up something I've wondered about: Do oddsmakers take rich fans into account when they set lines?
For example, God only knows how many millionaire gambler fans the Knicks and Yankees must have (stock market traders are professional gamblers after all). Oddsmakers inflate the Yankees lines but I haven't noticed that with any other teams really.
Any thoughts on this?
