Howard wants to be liked. Stepping up and taking over by being the leader opens you up to success envy than on to hate. just look at how much contempt Ratzz has towards Kobe, Howard wants no part of that...

If they could turn back the hands of time, what would the lakers do? Lottery here we come.

Seaborne, don't mean to be a douche as you = good peoples
but....
All the Lakers would have done in gotten the Suns a better pick, they DO NOT have a first round pick this year, so tanking would have been the dumbest thing ever.

As if getting swept and humiliated was a better option.

It's not humiliating to be swept when the last two games you have to play a dude who played less than 10 minutes during the regular season. Should the Heat be embarrassed if the Bulls/Nets beat them if Lebron, Wade, Bosh, Birdman, and Chalmers all get hurt?
This might be the worst thing for the Lakers though because they might still have the belief that when healthy this team can gel and win playoff games, which we didn't get to see them fail at this year.

Not making the playoffs would have made anyone think that this was just a lost season. getting swept in the playoffs as a 7th seed shows that you have a long way to go. Missing the playoffs would have been better, trust me.
