if you are so sure that there is no way that notre dame can lose this game/not cover, please explain the line movement...if you can't explain it..you obviously are a blind bettor

My guess is because more money came in on Notre Dame.

    I got Hawaii +2

I haven't seen an overwhelming amount of bets for Notre Dame, yet the line has moved drastically. Worries me a little.

          I do love Hawaii.

          But thats what I'm saying.

The line has moved about 4 points, which makes you think a ton of bets are on Notre Dame. But I haven't seen that.

As such, it worries me a little. Almost like they are trying to make Hawaii more and more enticing.

            1. Hawaii had a better record
            2. Hawaii is at home
            3. Traveling to Hawaii usually is a problem

            Go ND!

Hawaii was great at home this season and Notre Dame not so much on the road, so the opening line made sense.

I am not surprised by the line movement either because the bowl season brings out square bettors that have not bet all year, and there is not a more public college team than Notre Dame. Not to mention the fact that most of the ND alumni bets them blindly in bowl games.

No play for me but, if I wanted the action, I'd play Notre Dame. I may be too engrossed but it seems to me that the manic mentality is "don't play against Hawaii at the island". While there is some proof that this is a decent mantra, Notre Dame really does have some pride at stake here.

Their last two losses were flat out embarrassing. Losing @ home to Syracuse (it doesn't matter about the lame duck coach scenario; ND should win @ home vs a sorry Syracuse team no matter the scenario) and getting whitewashed by USC (at no time were they even competitive in this game) are not acceptable for Notre Dame. I think they have some wrongs to make right. Maybe this game provides them that outlet.

I'm actually surprised that they took on this bowl game. It tells me that they want to be there and prove they can win a game in an unfriendly environment. There is a potential here for Charlie to go 6-7 which, politically, doesn't bode well for him in 2009.

My question is: why play in this game at all? I may not be seeing it. They have turned down non-New Year's Day, non-BCS games in the past. Why the Hawaii Bowl? Maybe it is as simple as the beach, the sun and the women......I don't know.

Hawaii could win by 20 or so

I was going to say exactly what LT did. Has everything do to with ND being the public's sweetheart.

I'm taking the home dog! I small wager on Hawaii, so what! Notre Dame is a awful team, and do you really think they want to play in this game? They would rather be out at a party or something. What would you be doing if you were in Hawaii?
