Lines are long before major events, so bet early. Nothing like getting paid in cash right after the game is over. I like making sure the book gives me drink tickets for my bets (Venetian, Wynn). Some places don't offer any sort of free drinks (Bally's). ALthough you will probably bet more drunk, it is Vegas and even a bad sports bet is still a bet you will remember, unlike a blackjack hand. Plus, you never really have to tip anyone except the hot waitress serving you free drinks.
