#37Dude...I understand. You have a lot to be happy about ... seriously ... I would step away from this. Most of us are just a bunch of unhappy people. If I was in your situation (have a family) I would not be here.Comment -

#38Originally posted by Dashwood ClipperGood advice, but learnng money management is the hardest thing for me to do, and I dont understand why.
If you really can not control your bankroll, then you may want to quit. I have seen some lives ruined by gambling problems. It has not been fun to watch.Comment -

#391unit=1 percent of bankroll (at times I have made it 1/2%). Regular plays 3 units, very good plays 4-5 units, "locks" 5-6 units. I would have to lose 20 "locks" or 35 regular plays to zero out my bankroll...possible but unlikely. If I did I would probably not gamble anymore.Comment -

#47Originally posted by McRichI think almost everyone who has gambled has kicked themselves when they are down. Hang in there. I have been gambling for 30 years.
Probably my best asset is money management. I believe this is the most important factor in my gambling endeavors for the last 30 years.
I have realized that I will not become a millionaire from gambling. I try and control my tilt betting. I have made mistakes, but never a devastating mistake. I like action. Action and competition are my addictions. By controlling my money management, I am still able to gamble on sports and poker.
I am able to balance a good job, a family, and fill my need for action by controlling my bankroll.
I would never advocate someone gambling, but if they like action, I find money management the key.
I have many friends over the years who have crashed and burned via gambling due to money management. I have continued to feed my action because of money management. That's the only tip I have based on my 30 years of action. Best wishes.Comment -

#53Lack of discipline is the scourge of all gamblers. What I did in the past to get out of it is to take time off and only bet on playoffs, major tournaments like March Madness or World Cup of Soccer, Euro etc. Most gamblers are streaky and I found it much easier to beat the lines on major events than actually try to do it during the regural season when games are fixed or coaches try different schemes to improve their teams. What you can also do is put money on the side weekly till you built up a bankroll and when you clear your mind and find some tourney or a team that you like ride them hard and you will win. I have been very profitable this year betting the Falcons and Hawks and fading the Thrashers. I feel I have a good read on my local teams because I read the paper, watch the news on TV and watch all their games. I don't give a damn what the Kansas City Chiefs, San Jose Sharks or Utah Utes do so I don't bet them.Comment -

If you don't give a damn about these other teams, how do you know how to bet your teams when they face them. By listening to your biased local reporting? That will bite you in the ass eventually.Comment -
