I call it Pop, which I guess is why I fit in so well in Oregon. If someone offers me a coke, I expect white powder, not a beverage.

If you go to a restaurant in the south and ask for a coke, they'll ask you what kind would you like. It could be sprite, pepsi, mountain dew, diet coke, or a regular coke...it's all called coke.

This not true in Louisiana, which is pretty much as south as you can get. If you say coke, you get a coke. If you want a diet coke, then you say diet coke.
