Weaver is a monster... Pedro only pitcher to win more start straights in April... Weaver breaks streak tonight

yep that was the 1 stat in my handicapping that made me only bet Texas for 1 unit and not more. Weaver has always been a great April pitcher and 1st half pitcher. But until Ham starts hitting it will be tough to back the Angels.

Again, Darvish threw 111 pitches in an early-April start. Look up how many guys have done that in the past decade or so and get back to me. Add the fact that he was one out away from a perfect game, and a physical/mental letdown would be understandable tonight -- especially given LAA's lineup.

And BTW, Darvish pitched on Tuesday -- not Sunday. He's had the regular four days off.

Coin cc and verlander threw 110+ each and they started to slow up a bit .. April is tough to throw complete games unless ur kershaw lol

Darvish is used to high pitch counts, so I wouldn't completely rule out his ability to step up tonight and do well, but when you combine the context of his last start and remember the reason for the high pitch count, a letdown isn't so far fetched. There's a reason it's a good idea to fade pitchers coming back from perfect games, and while Darvish didn't get it, he was so close.
