big time... they were my life.. i adored them.. could probably name you ever expo player that wore the uniform.. hardly missed a game.. went to over 600 games at Olympic Stadium.. as much as i love hockey and from Canada, baseball has always been my favorite sport to watch growing up.. and still is..

it was like a death to my family when they left.. lots of great memories watching Carter, Dawson, Raines..with my dad.. and the day they left montreal for washington, i literally cried actual tears.

Expos have been part of my childhood.... right up there with the Habs..

I never forget when Rick Monday of my beloved Yankees hit that home run against you guys in 1981. I stayed up for two days I was so excited!

I'm sure Nicky was devastated during the strike shortened season in the early to mid 90's.

i was going to mention the Rick Monday hr.. but i thought no one here woudl remember. i swear... it was the only time in my whole life that i ever cried an actual tear during a game, including all sports.... i didn't eat or sleep for 3 days.. and who was to say that it was the closest we'd ever get again.. expos/washington are still the team that has gone longest of all 4 pro sports to not make the post season.. 27 yrs..

and yes onner, that strike season was the worst. we had best record in baseball at 74-41 and were blowing out every team 9-2.. then the strike.. and that was the beginning of the end of the franchise, as the following year, we let go all our stars, which led to the end of the team..

that strike killed it all. had they continued the season, the spos would still be here, and we would have won world series...

man, what a memory you have.. that was back in 02 with bonds and benito.. i am surprised you remembered Benito. i really thought he was going to hold up the place when he walked into the breakfast diner.

I will never forget those 2 breakfasts with the all time Home Run King.. I wish i had my camera back then like today.. instead of a long post about the big day, i would have hid camera on counter and filmed the whole event on youtube for sbr to see me sitting with Barry Bonds and talking about life..

It's ok Nicky, you can still cheer for Canada's baseball team, the Toronto Blue Jays.
(They even won a couple of World Series - real winners).

I went to one game in Olympic Stadium and watching a baseball game up there was just plain strange. Baseball should never have been in that city. The fact that they did all the announcing in French and English...it was odd it wasn't baseball.

Baseball in that stadium was just plain awkward too, it wasn't set up for baseball. The City and MLB really did Montreal a disservice by having them play there. If they had a new stadium there is no doubt in my mind that people would have gone to the games and the Expos would still be in that city. It really was sad the way it ended for them.

Amby, ever been to a Jays game at the old Exhibition stadium?

What an experience that used to be.

I like Rogers centre during the cold, but would prefer a true baseball park for the Jays.

InTheHole, do you realize that I was only 63 days old when that occurred? Amazing, eh?
