I'm somewhat surprised you only play at 5dimes.
I am still a noob....dropped my Bodog account because their customer service sucked, they kept making mistakes and I had to keep correnting their grading, and the lines always blew.

I am going to start a Pinnacle account for myself later today.....gotta get better tennis lines.

One last thing before I head out....the analogy just came to me:

I compare myself right now the way an online poker player 5 years ago would compare himself to Doyle Brunson. These guys, in one year of 24 tabling $1/2 13 hours a day (and yes, that is possible....I friend of mine has hit their top levels multiple times) could play more hands in that year than Doyle could play in a lifetime.

Were they as knowledgeable as him? No. Did they have his life experience? No.....BUT did they learn something from all of those damn hands? Of course they did.

IN 5 months I am over 2000 wagers totalling somewhere around $200,000 wagered.....do I know everything? HELL NO! I don't even know what books are best, etc....BUT, have I learned something from each and every loss and win? Hell yes. I believe that right now I am 5 times the capper I was 5 months ago. I am sure there are still people out there that believe it will come crashing down, many people still tell me it is impossible to bet the volume that I do and win.....and heck, it might be.....but I think I have a long way to go, and I am committed to being the best I can be.

Damn, this is fun....what a ride.

Thanks again everyone.....and if nothing else I will always remember this chapter in my crazy life.

            1. (D2D, u probably know this already...but for the benefit of others) Click DiggetyDaggety's link to SBR tennis odds...and note that you can pull-down control to have it show for ML, Game-spread, and Total-games as appropriate.

            2. For tennis, take it from fitguy that the two best sites in general price-wise are Pinnacle (that everyone knows about), and Matchbook (that few REALLY do). Matchbook is like Walmart for prices...weak on variety, but what it has is always very hard to beat. Dimey almost always more expensive than those two for pre-game tennis plays.

The biggest secret in sports betting is Matchy...for pre-game prices on plain-vanilla wagers, very hard to beat. Reason: it's not a book, it's an exchange...all bets are "player vs player"...no juice, just a tiny bit of commission. Matchy beats the hell out of Betfair also (1% vs BF's 5%, and WAY easier to use...none of that confusing "laying" crap...just bet on whatever side u want).

            3. For live-betting tennis (and anything else...a bit more juice than Dimey and Pinny, but tons more variety and always "on"...not those tiny intermission-only "windows of opportunity" u get elsewhere), u gotta go with Bet365.
            ________
For non US'rs...the "holy quartet" of sports-betting shops are "Pinny, Matchy, Dimey, and Betty"...once u got those four in place, then start adding others...just make sure that they're all skr___-able...and show up on the same book comparison site for easy shopping (the one Daggety links u to is fine)...

One last thing about using that comparison site...clik "settings" then "books order"...drag the books into the order u wanna see 'em (for me, it's the holy quartet first, then others...etc.)

Colon does not have a strong history against Texas either and Oakland has lost all 3 of Colon's last 3 starts. Texas is running at .724 at home so far and frankly, this is a math play. Do we need any more info than we have? I don't.

I go in KNOWING enough information that I can be confident that play is a good one long term and mathematically. Will Texas win this game more than 56% of the time if played 100 times? They sure as hell will. Will Texas win today? I sure as well hope so.

update: as long as Wings don't pull a Toronto "Deer in the Headlights" re-enactment...we ended up in one of the "more than 44.44% of the" universes we were hoping for!!!

You make great picks and, win or lose, your insight and overall attitude are very encouraging and helpful. So thank you and keep up the great work.

D2D has been VERY unlucky with blown leads late in the game, he is def on the right sides of these games even though they are losing late. Keep up the good work D2D, things are gonna start falling your way as the season goes on. I wouldn't reduce a thing!

Baseball does seem to be kyrptonite. Though I'm not sure I would have picked all that differently. A run a piece in two games tonight and today would have been EXTREMELY profitable.

It is a little frustrating thinking that two runs separated today from being extremely valuable. How many times out of 100 are the Nats held scoreless against an 8.00 ERA pitcher or one final run isn't scored in 3 innings of play.

Exactly! And the Mets or Reds not being able to get a run after getting 6 in the first 3 innings. We are lucky we pushed on the Giants game. We almost hit it if it wasn't for pence getting caught in a run down at home, Blanco not being able to drive in a run with the bases loaded with 1 out, and missing a HR in the 8th. We had our chances just didn't get the breaks. But it's Ok they were good bets that would have hit more often than not. Today wasn't our day. There are days we will get the breaks and some where we wont. God knows we aren't getting them now (chapman giving up back to back HR's in the 9th on Sunday) lol but hey it's all part of the game and we will get our breaks!

Good luck to us tomorrow D2D!

You only remember the losses, but it seems like bounces have been happening more and more against us. I would have taken the Pens to win, but 30 penetrating seconds still hurts.

Funny.....we are 48-33 and + $1350 in MLB in the last 13 days.....yes, the last two have been tough, and today we were definitely on the crap side, but there isn't one play that I regret, or that I would change with the information I had at the time.

                                                        Anyway, on to today:

                                                        Today:

                                                        5-6

                                                        - $86

                                                        Totals (96 documented days):

                                                        726-595

                                                        + $ 13,660.40

Play of the Day (NO CHANGE):

                                                        38 - 19

                                                        + $5446.93

                                                        ATP 3-2 +$130
                                                        MLB 2-4 -$216

Again, not a great day, another load of unlucky games (2nd day in a row), but again, over the last two days we are actually profitable. These small days are tough.....I am much better when I have 80 games to choose from and come up with 30 wagers....BUT, we will weather them profitably and just keep pounding the rock.

You will also remember these bets from last week.....these were PODs at the time....

                                                            179616151-1 5/14/13 2:29pm $369.00 $300.00 Pending 5/16/13 7:35pm Reduced Hockey 848 Boston Bruins (Series) -123* vs New York Rangers (Series)
                                                            179932042-1 5/16/13 7:09pm $210.00 $200.00 Pending 5/16/13 7:35pm Reduced Hockey 848 Boston Bruins (Series) -105* vs New York Rangers (Series)

By now most of you know that I rarely profit-take, or lock things in, but in this case I have. I have just made this wager:

                                                            180571820-1 5/21/13 4:29am $172.85 $579.05 Pending 5/21/13 7:35pm Reduced Hockey 847 New York Rangers (Series) +335* vs Boston Bruins (Series)

What this obviously does it protects me in case the Rangers do make a comeback....and frankly I can see them winning both games in NY.

Now, if Boston wins, we profit $327.15 and if the Rangers come back and win the series we break even.....this is still a POD, so if you decide to lay off as I have then great, and if you want to let it ride I completely understand. For me the guarantee of $327 win or a 0 loss is just too great not to make it.....and the only thing that made this possible was how huge the odds got on NY (+110 more than the Sharks right now!!!).

If every time I had two bad days in a row in a sport, I quit that sport.....I would literally have nothing left to bet on. It is easy to have a terrible timne in any sport for a couple of weeks....like in the NBA for the two weeks following the all-star break....every rythym (especially in totals) was WAY off....

This thread is one of my main resource tools as I navigate the intricacies of this new hobby of mine. You make great picks and, win or lose, your insight and overall attitude are very encouraging and helpful. So thank you and keep up the great work.

To everyone else, thanks a heck of a lot. Like every day I am just going to stress that not every day can/will be a winning day.

As for Fitguy, thanks for the props....I would love to get more recognition with the 'old guard' here at SBR, but I think they are focused on things other than winning (for the mostpart anyway).....hopefully we, the new guard, can get into all of this stuff sooner than later.....the capping makes it informative, the other stuff makes it even more fun...especially on those losing days!!

I think the more you play the more you can win. especially when you do research like you do. I am starting off with a very small roll and hopefully going to build it. probably not to your 30k goal, but make a fifth of that would be nice. well keep posting those winners and ill try to follow as much as I can. when do you post picks, like time of day? I am on west coast time in the states. is there a way to like get a notification when you make posts to my phone or email? I don't do forums. im a noob. starting roll is $200. BOL to everyone!

You obviously do alot alot of research and take winning very serious. My question is this, are you really able to separate mentally with everyday life? Like you mention in the one post about going out with friends to grab a steak with action at the same time. I consider myself a very disiplined player but this is something i really struggle with whether having $5 on a game or $100, doesn't matter, have to know the results. I know we all go through this and the real kick in the teeth is freting over a game out with friends or family that ends up being a loss. Just that dreaded wasted emotion feeling. Something have tried to get better at over the the years and just can't shake it and probably never will. There is nothing like the rush of a win, its in the blood.

Anyways, enjoy the heck out of your post and just curious on your take.
