Lakers best team on paper so why are Celtics better?

Celtics are better on paper to me just they are more of a defensive team

lakers have more depth than any team i have ever seen. half their bench could start on 90% of the other nba teams

The team depth does not win championships, only superstars do. While Kobe is fan favorite, "on paper", or as I would put it "by the stats", KG is head and shoulders above all current NBA superstars. Any team that has two superstars on its roaster is a championship contender. KG is valuable as almost two superstars. Add Pierce and then do not forget about Ray Allen and you get what you see.

The Celtics play defense and defense wins championships. Also the Celtics has way more team toughness and will than the Lakers
