Around 10 years old, tossing coins (where you would try to get the closest to the wall, or get a leaner up against the wall), pennies, nickels and dimes. This was actually popular when I was a kid growing up in South Philly. I remember some of the old Italians would even give us pennies to gamble with. Just about every corner you could play the "Street number", which at least the odds were 800-1 instead of the current legal 500-1 odds.
